ISEET

ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test)

ISEET-2013 (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test) will replace AIEEE and IIT JEE very soon. It will be a single national level entrance test and will be conducted for those candidates seeking admissions in central engineering institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs and IIIRs.

The notification for this entrance test in 2013 will be displayed in the month of September. In future, ISEET will replace all state level examinations like RPET, MH-CET, Karnataka CET including IIT-JEE and AIEEE.

Initially, ISEET 2013 was proposed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India with the main aim of reducing the stress on students who wish to appear for various entrance examinations. ISEET will not only reduce the mental stress but also the financial stress which in-turn will be beneficial for students.

Students can focus on a single test syllabus which can help them in getting admissions to good colleges. ISEET 2013 test in online mode will be held twice or more in an academic year. And the scores of this exam will be valid for two years.

The new exam pattern for ISEET 2013 is as follows:

Minimum 40% of weightage shall be given to School Board Marks.

ISEET 2013 will be divided into two categories, namely ISEET Main and ISEET Advanced. Both tests will be conducted on the same day, between 10 am and 5 pm. ISEET 2013 will be held in either March or April

ISEET Main : It is an objective test which is same like CAT, SAT and other exams. Its aim is to test the student’s English comprehension, logical reasoning and critical thinking.

ISEET Advanced : It mainly depends on school board syllabus and its difficulty level is equal to that of AIEEE. 30% weightage will be taken into consideration which is mandatory for admission to central engineering institutions.

Date of Examination:

March or April and November or December

Time of Examination:

3 Hours

Syllabus

The syllabus for the ISEETentrance exam has been given in the tabulated format below:
ISEET Main consists of comprehension, logical reasoning and critical reasoning. And ISEET Advance consists of questions from subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics.

ISEET Main will be an objective type exam and will test comprehension, critical thinking and logical reasoning of the candidates. ISEET Advance will test problem-solving ability in basic science subjects. The two tests together will indicate a candidate's scholastic level and aptitude for science and engineering.

A student's performance in the Class 12 Board exam will be considered with the weightage not less than 40 per cent of the total score. The combined weightage for ISEET Main and Advance will not be more than 60 per cent. However, the weightage given to Board scores can go up to 100 per cent.

Each state government or institute will be able to decide the specific weightage it gives to Board, Main and Advance exam scores. ISEET will be conducted by CBSE. Further modalities will be worked out by an academic group headed by the director of IIT, Kanpur.

ISEET Main Syllabus 2013
ISEET Main Exam is the Objective type Aptitude Test to measure aptitude skills of a Student
1. Comprehension
2. Logical Reasoning
3. Critical Reasoning (thinking)

Total exam duration:03 hours

Session: from 10AM to 1PM

Type of Questions: Objective

ISEET Advance Exam Syllabus 2013
ISEET 2013 Advance exam will test the problem solving abilities of students in the following science subjects
1. Physics
2. Chemistry
3. Mathematics

Total exam duration:03 hours

Session: from 2PM to 5PM

Type of Questions: Objective
It will be up to each institution or groups of institutions or state agencies to conduct counseling and admission. The ministry wants to bring change in the current education system so as to give relief to students by introducing a common entrance test for all the technical institutions instead of conducting multiple tests. There are around 15 lakh engineering aspirants across the country and over 150 entrance tests are conducted for admission to these institutes. However, this requires the states’ consent to the proposal for its implementation all over the country.
